HaPpY ThAnKsGiViNg!

We truly are "Thanks for Sophia" as well as many other things today! We're so blessed to see both families today and we can't wait (especially because I don't have to cook!) Sophia made this cute "Pioneer Hat" and beaded necklace at preschool. I thought it turned out cute. Although some may consider it racist. (Seriously, some people need to get a life.)

We hope you all have a great day!
P.S. Doug and I celebrated 6 great years yesterday! Apparently it's the year of iron. He got my ring cleaned and wrote me a sweet note about many things related to iron. He even spelled out IRON in the middle with the white space between words. He's amazing. I told him I was going to post it on here and I'll do that later. 'Till then, Happy Thanksgiving! (or Happy Halloween as Lilly says - she thinks she's so funny).

Hey mom I have an idea!

Let me tell you about it...it's a pony that talks...has button you can push...makes color all over...and...can swim! Any guesses on who's seen too many toy commercials between Dora and Diego episodes?

The white stuff

If only it were just the middle of an Oreo. I don't think I'm quite ready for this other stuff yet. At least the kids had fun.

Here's my cute sick little princess and what she did since she didn't go to nursery today.
This is one of our super saturday projects from yesterday. I thought it turned out okay.

FHE Recap

So we asked Sophia to say a prayer for FHE tonight and she prayed "thank you that daddy is not silly anymore and that you that mom is not mean." Good to know that she's seeing some improvement. We all know though that Doug can work on not being so silly and I'm still working on the mean part too. Silly Sophs!

Just in case you didn't see it...

I'm famous (not really) again. Go sweet potatoes! The included recipes really are pretty good. I like them anyway. In other news, I tried my hand at canning chicken this afternoon. It was on sale for a $1.29/lb this week at the new "Fresh Market" grocery stores and so I bought a lot. Unfortunately we have a tiny freezer so I needed another way to preserve it. I too thought it sounded gross when I heard about it but I don't think it's going to be too bad. It's just like canned chicken that you buy from Costco. We'll see how it goes. I'll let you know.

My Sister-in-Law Totally Rules!

No the Pioneer Woman is not my sis-in-law (but wouldn't that be fun?). My real, very awesome and truly amazing sis-in-law braved the crowds (well, she lucked out actually and avoided the crowds) and picked me up a signed copy of one of these beauties while PW was in Salt Lake today. She's so awesome and I'm so excited to have a copy! Thanks again Tonya!

In No Particular Order...

Here's our fall in review:

First off though, tonight for FHE we talked about being happy. Lilly has not been feeling well and has been super cranky! She stayed in her crib screaming about the entire day and as soon as Doug got home I was out the door to take a minute to myself because I'd had it with the screaming. It may be an ear infection. Or teeth. Or she's just cranky.

Anyway, while I was gone I guess Doug decided it'd be a good idea to talk about being happy. We sang "If You're Happy and You Know It" and drew pictures of things we're happy for. Doug's says "Mom is my happy thought" Ah, Douglas... he was Peter Pan for Halloween too so it's so fitting! Lilly's is a binky (drawing courtesy of Sophs) and Sophia's is her with curlers in her hair. She's got quite the feet too!
Last week we went with some friends to Pumpkinland in Vineyard. It was great! They had a fun pumpkin house/play area for the kids to play in. They loved it. Too bad it was sooooo freezing cold and the moms didn't want to stay too long.

Getting ready to go on the corn maze.
Last week Sophia also had a parade at preschool during Boo Bash. It was so cute!
This is the cute thing I had hanging on our door this year. I thought it was cute. I told you this post would be in no particular order.
A few weekends ago we went to the Ivins Halloween party. Doug's grandma was a pirate. She totally cracks me up! (no those aren't her real teeth). I love that she dresses up every year. I hope I'm like that!
I went as Peter Pan since the real Peter was at the BYU game. I thought it would look a little funny going as Wendy without Peter so I took one for the team and went as Peter. I thought Tinkerbell and the cutest lost boy/girl looked great too.
A few weeks ago we went to the pumpkin patch in Santaquin. The kids had a great time. What are you looking for Lils?

We had a good Halloween too. Doug's parents were nice enough to let us hang at their house for the night. We had a fun time. I didn't have my camera so I didn't get a shot of all of us dressed up. Doug's mom took one and I may post it later. We didn't do too much trick or treating because they weren't too interested. We did trick or treating at Doug's work the day before and they got way too much so we were fine with them not going out and getting more candy! It still may take them until next Halloween to finish what they have! On the way home from Doug's house we were talking to the girls about how Thanksgiving will be the next holiday and then Christmas. Lilly got really good at saying "Happy Halloween" (after we carved pumpkins she kept saying "Happy Halloween Pumpkin!" - I think she thought it was a weird form of Happy Birthday) and so we told her now we got to say "Happy Thanksgiving". Whenever we'd tell her to say that she always responded with "Happy Halloween!". She sure thought she was so funny and kept saying it. Silly girl. Speaking of things Lilly says, in the middle of sacrament meeting yesterday she kept belting out "Happy Birthday Brian Dean!" (her cute cousin who celebrated a birthday a few days ago) over and over. That and twinkle twinkle. It was sure a nice reverent day at church. Although it always is on our bench.
