C'est fini!

Here's the post again with the picutres bigger. Hopefull you can click on them now if you so desire.

Here's the girls enjoying their new room:
Just kidding. Here's what their real room looks like: This was the first time I've ever bound a quilt by myself. I think it turned out okay.I think the quilts help bring the room together. Some decor. Sorry about the giant glare on the poster - you get the idea though.

I got the shelf and frame from DI and the dolls off e-bay. I already had the postcard. I think it turned out pretty good.
The girls love these dolls but have been good about them staying on the shelf.
Don't look too close. Not quite what I was going for but it works.
Here's the pillows for their beds. Again, don't look too close. The shoe one turned out better than I thought it would. I like how they match the quilts too. Doug deserves full credit for this table. We already had this table and chair set from IKEA but it was getting gross and covered in paint. We painted it white and then painted the top of the table red. We already had the puzzle so we put it on the table and then dumped that tile board resin stuff (mixed with glitter) over it and the rest of the table top. It turned out pretty good. The red reminds me of the floor in the Disney store. I made little blue gingham cushions to go on the chairs. I think this part turned out pretty cute. More decor. Again, sorry for the glare. The tin poster says "Click your Heels". Again the shelf and shoes are from DI. Love what you can find there!
New desk/art center. The desk drawer is full of markers/colored pencils/crayons/pens/etc. The other drawers have paper/stamps/sticker/etc. It's so nice having everything in one place and contained! Sophia loves it and has created many masterpieces there already.
The best part is they are doing a great job sleeping down there! I was nervous about getting Lilly out of the crib but we haven't had a single problem (yet). She gets out occasionally but overall she loves her new bed. It's been really nice and I'm glad we moved them well before this baby comes.

All we have left to do is get stuff up on the nursery walls and plant the garden. Then we'll do a lot of sitting around waiting for the baby. I can't wait! This is the first time one of our babies hasn't had to share a room with someone or something. Sophia shared with a computer and Lilly shared with Sophia. I think I'm really going to like having nothing but the baby in that room. We've got our chaise in there for me to sit and feed the baby ((sleep on) the first few weeks - it's actually really comfortable). As soon as we get some decor in that room I'll post some pictures. For now I'm loving the open space!

Getaway

We had a nice time at a retreat with Doug's work this past weekend at the Homestead. Oh how I love Midway. Rumor has it that if you stay there they send you some kind of bounceback deal. We're hoping it's true. We think our kids would love it! We woke up to cold and snow but other than that, it was great!

The snow didn't keep us from visiting the crater. Still not sure if I'll ever be brave enough to swim in it.

Happiest Kindergartener

Sophia had her Kindergarten screening at the doctor this morning. She got a T-shirt, coupon for ice cream, and this awesome picture. She didn't even get any shots. Her happy face was from getting poked for her hematocrit. My dramatic child. Oh how I love her. Good thing she's got one of the best (most patient) doctor's around!

Sophia the Graduate

We had such a fun time at Sophia's preschool graduation last night. She was pretty excited about it and we're excited for her to start Kindergarten next year! She seriously goes to the best preschool and we're going to miss it. Here she is with the fabulous Ms. Jessie.
Receiving her diploma. Ms. Jessie and Ms. Pam knew right where I was but Sophia was still searching.

With Grandpa after.
Thanks again to all the grandparents who came down!
The happy grad. Lilly also got a fun balloon from Grandma. She tried so hard all night to blow it up.
Here's a few videos for your enjoyment (don't watch if you get motion sickness easily). This one is pretty funny. This was right after they came up on stage after marching in. Apparently they were one chair short and Sophia was pretty confused about it. Thank goodness Ms. Diana saved the day!

Here they are singing about the letter M.

There was also a funny song they did where the kid kept adding on a funny thing with their bodies. She'd been talking about it for weeks. It was pretty funny. Thumbs up...elbows back...feet apart...knees together...bottoms up...tongue out...eyes closed...turn around. She loved it! It's a long video and I'm trying to get vimeo to upload it so I'll post it when I do.

Camping Numero Dos

Here's a quick bonus picture I found on my phone of the twin cousins. They're pretty cute.
This weekend we had a great time camping in Grover, UT (it's by Capitol Reef). Sophia got some new sneakers before we left but was bummed when she realized Jane never got to see them. She took this picture with my phone so that Jane could see.
One of the partners at Doug's firm owns this property and they've had a campout there the past few years. It's a really nice clean property and has some great views.

Random shot of the tent.
It was still a little cold but not as cold as last weekend. The sprinklers were on all night and we woke up to this ice field (we forgot our camera so all these are from my phone so they're not spectacular). The white strip in the middle of the picture is all ice.
It was a little chilly that morning and Doug got fed up with hearing Sophia complain about how cold she was.

After breakfast we headed out to Escalante (about 40 miles away) to hike Calf Creek Falls. It was a great hike and our kids were troopers! Sophia pretty much made it the whole way by herself.
We were told that it was about a 2 mile hike so we didn't think it'd be that bad. We didn't know if that was one way or round trip but we still figured we be up for it. They had markers along the way showing different things. 15 was the waterfall. Sophia was so relieved when we finally made it there!
Doug and Lilly at the falls.
Sophia playing in the water.
The falls. It really was beautiful!
So by the time we finally made it back to the car we were exhausted! I told Doug I couldn't remember the last time I'd felt that exhausted. We were looking through something and saw that the hike was actually 6 miles round trip! We couldn't believe Sophia had made it. It was pretty hilly too and most of it was through sand. That was my biggest complaint. By the end each step hurt so bad and it seriously was the worst to walk through! I seriously wanted to give up. My calves are killing me today!
We were very hot and tired by the time all was said and done but glad that we did it. It was a fun experience and we were glad to get some hiking in before this baby comes.

Visit from Cousins!

I'm glad you all got a kick out of me shooting a BB gun. I didn't realize my gigantic pregnant belly was so funny (how am I going to make it 6 more weeks!). Glad I could make you all smile.

Anyway, my sister and her cute family were in town this week for a wedding. We had such a blast with them! Here's her sweet Kate and Lilly kickin back with some Little Einstiens. We're pretty sure Lilly is actually related to us because of how much she looks like Kate.
Sophia and cute James. She loved to hold him (except for when he was crying). She's going to be such a great big sister (again)!

Cute James. Oh how I miss him already.
Of course we had to go bowling while they were here. Lilly actually got a stike with the ramp! It was quite impressive.
Granny bowling.
Cute Kate enjoying a Jamba.
Jane and Sophia. Jane is one of Sophia's absolute favorite cousins. She talks about her all the time! She was a little nervous when she found out Jane was 7 (for some reason she has this thing that she can only play with kids her own age) but was relieved when she found out Jane would still play with her. They were pretty much inseparable. They had a blast!
James thoroughly enjoyed my necklaces. They made him very "happy".The first flash on the camera always made him blink so we couldn't get a good shot. He's still super cute though. Twinners! Good thing we both got the memo to wear purple. After we took this picture I commented that I looked oh so flattering. Eliza was so helpful and reassured me that it's pretty much not possible to look flattering at this point in the pregnancy. Thanks sista! JK.
Twinners again!
We didn't want you to leave either James!
Hope you all made it safely back to New York. Thanks again for coming! We had so much fun and we miss you!

Camping Trip #1

We had such a fun campout this last weekend. We found a great spot up Kanosh Canyon and had a blast. Here's the hunters getting ready to go.We did lots of fun things like looking at the stars

And keeping our backs
and fronts warm by the fire.
We also shot the BB gun a little
and had a great time! Overall the trip was a success. The only problem I had was that it was FREEZING! at night. I was sooooooo cold! Doug of course slept like a warm toasty baby. The highlight of the trip was Sophia vomiting all over the port-a-potty because of the smell. She wouldn't throw up in the toilet (where the smell was coming from) and so it was everywhere. So fun.
After we camped we decided to take a quick trip to Cove Fort since we were only about 10 miles away. It was great. I hadn't been there since a youth conference a long time ago so it was fun to go again. What a neat place!
Too bad we were all so stinky and dirty from camping. They didn't seem to mind though.
Here's Grandpa and Sophia at the top of the fort.
Here we are on top of the carriage. I couldn't believe how high up we were. I would have been terrified to actually ride up there with horses. Sophia was scared out of her mind as well.
Lilly on the other hand loved it so much that she wanted a turn all by herself.
Here's Sophia pulling the smoker in the blacksmith shop.
Here's Lilly in the barn.
One of us thoroughly enjoyed a chocolate chip granola bar and nap on the way home. She fell asleep while eating the granola bar. It was everywhere! This picture does not do it justice but her hands were covered.
This weekend we're heading out again with the Tax department from Doug's work. We're headed toward Capitol Reef this time. I'm excited for some hiking!
