More Silly Sisters Adventures

Sophia randomly took these shots of Lilly and Mabel and I thought they were classic! This is totally how interactions go between these two. Lilly plays while Mabel observes and minds her own business. Lilly attacks and Mabel freaks out. "HELP! Save me!" Ha ha. Gotcha again. Except notice Lilly getting ready to deliver a sucker punch... We have been lucky enough to store some of my sister's stuff from when she taught school. The girls discovered this tin of shapes the other day and had fun creating.
Sophia made these bugs and stars by herself. We were impressed. Doug helped them spell out their names. Lilly picked what to use for the two l's in the middle of her name.

I'm not quite sure who took this picture but I'm assuming it's a self portrait. These pictures were supposed to be included in the last post but I forgot so their here. I tried really hard to get a picture of the girls in their 4th of July attire but this is the best I could do.

And here they all are on the way home from cabin on Monday. I think it's safe to say they were a little tuckered out from all the excitement.

Phew! I'm caught up! Get ready for Family Reunion pics to come in a few days. I know you can't wait!

Happy Birthdays America and Baby!

Can someone please explain how I have so quickly gone from this:to this?:My sweet little baby turned 1 today and I can't believe how big she is. This last year WENT BY SO FAST!!!! I promised myself that I was going to mark her progress with this monkey every month. I did really good up until about 6 months. Which is the picture below. You can see a little bit of progress though. The rest of this post is going to be totally random and out of order so bear with me!

We had a good 4th weekend. We went to the balloons on Saturday and had a great time. Lilly managed to take this picture which actually turned out pretty good. For some reason we always sit by the Smokey the Bear trailer and we actually have a pretty good collection of these Frisbees that we've received through the years. I'm pretty sure I'm about to send this shot into the Forest Service for their next ad campaign.

Nothing better than bedhead, donuts and balloons!

My and Mabel. I had to take this one because I have one like it of me with Sophia wearing the exact same jammies 5 years ago!

This week for our little "summer schedule" we're talking about the 4th and patriotism in general. On Sunday we made these fabulous watercolor pictures
And these wonderful flags. Sophia had to be absolutely certain that her's had 13 stripes and 50 stars. Lilly could have cared less. I love it!

We also celebrated this babies birthday with Doug's family. Here she is after my friend dropped off her cake.

On Monday we went up to Doug's cousin's cabin in Fruitland (I think). The girls had a blast riding the horses.

Sophia was so excited that she could hardly contain herself. If you look closely you'll notice that her eyes are totally red and puffy from crying. The minute we got there a huge dog completely trampled her. She had just gotten over her fear of dogs too! She also cried plenty when grandpa and grandma took her fishing and there were red ants! Oh no!

Here's the cousins getting ready to ride the horses.
After that we went to Doug's brother's house for fireworks and birthday celebrating. I promise Doug was really not that tired. Mabel getting ready to enjoy a piece of her cake. She really wanted to touch that sparkler.

My cute friend made the cake and it was adorable! I love all the detail. She said that she used a toothpick and food coloring for the writing. It's supposed to look like a ladybug flying! So cute!

For her actual day we just celebrated at our ward playgroup at a park. I brought these lady bug cupcakes along. Not as great as the cake but I tried.

We're going to a family reunion later this week and are looking forward to more celebrating there!

Slip and Slide and Other Random Fun!

I'm not sure who took these first few pictures but I certainly don't remember taking them! Here's a little bit of what we've been doing with Mabel lately. Two piggies!I promise we really don't do much of this with her. Again, I'm not sure who took this one. Matching jammies! These jammies used to fit Lilly and Sophia and now they fit Lilly and Mabel. I love it. I seriously will never get tired of my kids in matching clothes.

Lilly and Mabel June 2011:Sophia (I can't get over her face!) and Lilly May 2008.She has also been good at getting really messy!Last weekend we put up the pools and slip and slide and had such a fun time! Unfortunately I didn't realize how bad the slip and slide is for grass and we have a big dead rectangle in the back now. Oh well! Here's the girls getting splashed by Daddy coming through! I love this flower child. Mabel had such a blast playing with the water. I really need to get her to a splash pad ASAP. She'd have a blast!Peek-A-Boo Mabes! She's definitely a water baby!

Bug Week

Last week we had a great time talking about insects. We had to make a trip to the "animal museum" to check out their insect collections. We always love the butterfly one. We also colored lots of insect pictures and talked about the life cycle of a butterfly. We made caterpillars tissue paper butterflies and egg carton butterflies. Sophia proudly portraying her tissue paper butterfly. We also ate bugs in dirt!
This is out of order but here's one of the girls painting their butterflies. And finally, here's a random one of a cute very hungry Caterpillar eating some watermelon.
