Europe Part 3! (Switzerland Day 1)

We loved our time in Switzerland! It was so fun to spend time with Jeff and Lexie and see how they live abroad.  It was such an amazing place and I'm so glad we got to go!! It was fun to see the cats Link and Lily again too!!
Here's some views from Jeff and Lexie's apartment.  I loved how colorful all the buildings were!
The first day we were there we headed to Zermatt to see the Matterhorn.  We greatly enjoyed the views along the way.
Jeffy and I on the train. Not quite sure what my face is doing.
Doug and I on another train.  I can't remember how many we took to get there.
More scenery.
The flowers in Switzerland absolutely killed me.  Most of them were wild too!! It was amazing.  I loved seeing all the houses too.
Doug and I on the main road in Zermatt.
The cloudy Matterhorn.
It was a little chilly at the top!!
But beautiful!
These were the best shots we got of the Matterhorn.  We couldn't get those dang clouds to leave!
More shots from Zermatt.
We had lunch at a delicious little Italian restaurant.  Zermatt is close to Italy so we felt like it was authentic.  We also had a funny waiter who thought we were crazy because we asked for balsamic vinegar with our pizza and foccacia.  He looked at us and said "balsamica? for the pizza?" Then rolled his eyes and walked away.  Crazy Americans.
We finished off our delicious meal with a Toblerone filled crepe called the Matterhorn.  So yummy!!
More Zermatt.
On the way home we stopped in a little town called Thun. It was amazing and so beautiful!
We could not get over the color of the water!! And again with the flowers!!
We also saw some waterfowl!
This sign cracked us up.
This one was from the train ride back to Zurich I think.  I think it's of Bern...
When we got back we did a little exploring in Zurich.
We also enjoyed a delicious pre-birthday meal (so yummy)
and then walked around the city a little.  With Zurich being the capital of Switzerland, I kept asking Lexie where all the tall modern buildings are.  Turns out there's not any!! Most of the business buildings were about 3 stories high and they all looked old.  Even the new ones are built to look old.  Amazing.
That building in the back on the left is the opera house.  They happened to be broadcasting the opera onto a huge screen in the square and there were tons of people there watching.  It was kind of fun!
We ended the day with an amazing waffle and ice cream from Movenpick.
What a beautiful city!!

Beautiful! What is the altitude there? Bryce went camping in Wyoming and got major altitude sickness! I thought that was only for serious mountain climbers!
