...make an acorn wreath! So we love our new house and all and we even love the gigantic oak tree in the front. Unfortunately, we do not love the abundant amount of acorns it produces.
We cleaned them up on Saturday and Doug said, "isn't there something you can make out of these?" Then my friend Lauren came over on Saturday and saw the mess and also commented that I could probably make something out of them. So I decided to go a little Martha and I created a wreath out of a few of them. I think it turned out pretty cute.
The day after we swept them up we had just as many on the ground and realized that it was a total waste to clean them up everyday so we're just going to let it go for awhile. In the meantime, if anyone is in need of a load of acorns, I know where you can get some! We're hoping to get the "mature trees" on our yard a little bit under control this fall so hopefully we won't have as many acorns next year!

When life hands you acorns....

Your wreath is so cute I might have to come steal some acorns so I can make one too! I'm thinking of signing Will up for an open-gym class through UVSC's continuing ed program. It is at a gym in very south Provo and kids ages 2-5 get to play from 11-12 on Tues/Fri for 3 weeks for $39. Maybe it will help him run out some energy!
Oh yeah, I've also seen in my Martha Stewart Living magazine table decorations just made by dumping a bunch of acorns into glass vases of varying sizes. It was a cute natural fall decoration.
Jo, the wreath is awesome! I love it. Like Erin said I have also seen them in glass vases. In fact, I did that in my house, but my acorns were an expensive indulgence at a craft store. :)
So cute! Make me one, I'll pay shipping. You are so the next Martha, well Martha that lives in Payson-hee hee.
OHMYGOSH!! That is the cutest wreath I've ever seen! I love it! Did you hot glue them? We have those huge oak trees too, but I haven't noticed too many acorns that aren't already smashed or eaten by squirells, but I want to go start gathering some and make one too! But I know it won't turn out as cute at yours.
Ok, the fact that you could make something that cute out of a mound of acorns is ridiculous. Actually, it's amazing and I feel ridiculous! Not an ounce of creativity in me and that's the truth. I would have dumped all the acorns without giving it a second thought...then wished I had enough money to go buy a cute wreath. :) Way to go. And as for Sophia's prayer, I nearly cried as I read it. Truly adorable and very touching. How blessed we are!
