The girls put on a Frozen play a few weeks ago. Here's Mabel as Olaf

On Memorial Day we decided to leave bright and early to spend the day together as a family. We felt a little guilty not visiting any graves but Doug has literally not taken a day off all year (expect for being sick) and so we felt like we really needed some family time. We stopped at a donut place in town on the way out to grab a few for the road. Look at the size of their fritters! They were delicious.
We went to the Lava flow in Millard County to find an ice cave. Lewis and I all ready for the hike.
This little stubborn girl is not really a fan of hiking and refused to take one more step. Unfortunately the starting point was back at the road behind her...
We got to see a crop duster fly overhead. It was pretty cool!
It's hard to see but this is the cave. There really was ice and water at the bottom. It was nuts.
I climbed down a little to check it out.

After that we went to the lava tubes that were near by. They were these huge underground tunnel caves. They were awesome!
You climbed through one of the holes at the top to get down. There were other holes in the ceiling. Pretty cool to see!

It was the craziest place because all around it looked like this. Who knew underground there were all these tunnels!?

This is probably one of the craziest places in Utah. A few miles from the lava tubes there was this mountain that had all this pristine, soft white sand all over it. It was nuts!
Then a few more miles away there was a hot spring. It was kind of crowded so we just put our feet in. It was pretty warm!
Lewis also enjoyed a piece of licorice.
After that and some lunch we went did a little rock hounding looking for sunstone. It was kind of like yellow topaz. It was pretty fun to find.
After that we headed to the sand dunes just outside of Delta. This little guy loves sand and couldn't get enough.
So hot, tired and dirty!
On the way home we stopped at some old pioneer charcoal furnaces. I guess they used to fill these with wood and then burn them down to get coal to sell to blacksmiths and stuff. Pretty crazy.
We also stopped at The Great Stone Face outside of Delta. I had never heard of this but we saw a sign for it so we went to check it out. I guess when the Pioneers came they saw this and thought it looked like Joseph Smith (or his profile anyway) so they took it as more of a sign that this was where they were supposed to be. I guess the indians living here at the time thought it was one of their leaders too. Or something like that. You can read more about it
