School Performances

Yesterday Lilly had a talent show at preschool.  She wanted to do a dance so she wore her flower costume for her upcoming recital.  Because I'm an awesome mom (and 9 months pregnant!) I forgot the music for her to dance to and my camera so I have no video from it.  Thank goodness for the camera phone though!  She did a great job and it was really cute.
On Tuesday Sophia had a patriotic performance at her school.  I guess it's something the 2nd graders do every year.  It was really good and everyone did a great job.  She's been singing the songs for weeks so it was fun to see it all put together.  Here she is waiting to go up on the stage.
In the middle of "50 Nifty"

Here she is with her awesome teacher Mrs. Garner.  She has completely loved her this year and we are going to miss her!
Sorry this video is a little shaky but here they are singing "God Bless America".  It cracks me up because I totally caught her yawing! She still did a great job though.

FHE Fun

The other night for FHE we pulled out this old trick.  Sophia has been begging for some more "excitement" in our FHE's lately and this is the best we could do.  Doug tried feeding me a banana and a bowl of cereal first.  The girls went crazy over that.  They all needed a turn too.  It was pretty funny.  And yes, we're crazy!

Mother's Day and Such

We had a pretty good Mother's Day around here yesterday.  I was able to grab a quick shot with my girls after church (even if it took a little bribing).
They even let me take individual ones with them (do I look tired of being pregnant or what?!)
Or at least 2 of them let me take a picture with them.
I was spoiled with breakfast in bed, some sweet homemade things, the new She & Him album and some sweet little notes from church.
It was a great day and we were lucky enough to have dinner with my mom at my brother's house.  It was a great evening and good to be together as a family.

Last weekend Sophia had a piano recital.  Here she is all ready for it.
And during her performance.  She did a pretty good job!
These shots are kind of random but a few weeks ago an online costume site was having a $10 costume sale and we couldn't resist.  The girls picked out their costumes for Halloween and couldn't help but try them on when they came.  Assuming that these costumes will still fit in October, we'll have a cute Alice,
a fun little bunny Littlest Pet Shop
and a beautiful rosebud fairy.

This shot is random too but for some reason the girls wanted to wear daddy's hats the other night.  I think they looked pretty cute!

Projects

We've been pretty busy around here this week. I'm not sure if you can call it nesting because it hasn't so much involved spring cleaning as it has major projects that we probably shouldn't have attempted 3 weeks before bringing another child into this house.  Oh well.  We'll learn someday.

Doug had a vision of a rock path in our side yard.  He worked really hard on it and I like how it turned out.  The grass we had here never grew anyway because it gets really hot in this area.  We still need to add a few more shrubs/plants and some mulch on top of the beds but I really like it so far.  I think it will look even better after everything fills in in about 5 years!
We also got new carpet this week (finally!)  Look at the old stuff.  Gross!  I love the lovely black track down the side too. Not sure where that came from.
Our kids were nice and patient with us while our house was torn apart for a little bit.  Here's what our kitchen looked like
 And Mabel's room.  Sorry Mabes!
They even had to eat breakfast out in the living room before the new carpet came.
And here it is after!  They love it!  I did not love that I had to fill it back up with furniture and everything but fortunately it went pretty quickly.
Here's everything all put back together.  I love it!  It's seriously amazing what a difference new carpet makes.  It feels so much cozier and we all love it!
This isn't really a project as much as it is a fun thing.  It has the word project in it though so that counts right?  Doug broke down and brought a projector.  He has wanted one for FOREVER and finally found a good deal on the one he wanted.  So far we've really loved it but are going to try really hard to not abuse the novelty factor!
This room is a little displaced too.  Another project for this week!
